The above information and instructions screenshot appear on each Honeycomb Mushroom Grow Cube (HMGC).  HMGCs are ground breaking new technology. Plants grow inside an HMGC the same way they grow in a soil pot, but HMGCs have unique additional benefits.  They are a soil-less and organic hybrid of nature and hydroponic engineering.  They are made of pasteurized organic coco coir and organic rice hulls that have been colonized by live mushroom mycelium.  They are grown, not manufactured per se, specifically to permit you to grow a plant hydroponically, organically, and virtually effortlessly.

The polymeric skin is made of slow release chitin, and its derivatives, chitosan, chitanese, and oligosaccharides.  Trans-2-Decenedioic Acid (T2DA), the main component of royal jelly, and oxalic acid are also produced which both help increase yields.  These polymeric compounds start off as a non-mobile part of your substrate fibers, but as chitinolytic microbes develop and ingest the chitin, mobile and soluble chitin derivatives are internally released and made immediately available to be picked up by the negatively charged root tips of your plant.

Due to their unique evaporation resistance, HMGCs are grown around an internal flexible "air stone."  The oyster mycelium grows a chitin based "skin" over the organic fibers that form the ultimate substrate.  The live mushroom is then deactivated by microwave radiation.  This process produces both mechanical and biochemical advantages while ensuring a pathogen free substrate.  HMGCs are then ready to be used.

Chitin and its derivatives act as a type of vaccination for your plants.  Your plants will quickly build immune responses to a diverse variety of pathogens including viruses, fungi, and bacteria.  Chitin based fiber encourages the growth of chitinolytic bacteria, some of which are responsible for fixing nitrogen in the presence of phosphorous (P), potassium (K), and carbon (C).  Chitin and its derivatives also have numerous other advantages to plant health and nutrition.

The air stone prepares your nutrient solution through agitation and oxygenation. This ensures nutrient mobility, and that only aerobic conditions may exist internally.  HMGCs simulate the mechanical advantages of rockwool, but unlike rockwool, they possess a Cationic Exchange Capacity (CEC).  Further, your plant's roots absorb nutrients through osmosis, and the internal air stone adds atmospheric pressure upon only its rhizosphere, thus hastening your plant's metabolic process.  They do not compact like clay based soils do, and no other soil-less particulate mixture will hold itself together like an HMGC does.

As a bonus, these foam based semi-rigid self-contained substrates mean no dust or allergies.  HMGCs will cost you less than Ebb and Flow, Deep Water Culture, or Aeroponics, because there are no costly water pumps or filters that need maintenance and occasional replacement.  Best of all, due to their extremely high thermal insulation value, they permit you to do what no other substrate has accomplished so far, to take hydroponics outdoors in the extreme heat or cold without adverse consequences!  The chart below explains why HMGCs are the most flexible substrate that can be used on any flat surface.
